Hungarian reporter fired after deliberately tripping Syrian refugee

A Hungarian camerawomen was fired Tuesday for deliberately tripping a Syrian refugee, the local news channel N1TV, where she worked, said in a statement.
Petra Lazlo, who is a member of the anti-immigration group and a worker for N1TV station, was caught on camera sticking her leg out as a father carrying his son runs past, causing them both to fall down on the ground at the Roszke immigrant camp on the Hungary-Serbia border during a police crackdown on immigrants.
She was also caught on camera kicking refugees fleeing the camp, including a young girl.
“The N1TV colleagues today behaved unacceptably in Roszke collection point. Our working relationship with the camerawoman has ended. The case was considered closed our part,” The Telegraph newspaper quoted the news station as saying in a statement.
Lazlo’s video was widely shared on social media after it was posted by German reporter Stephan Richter on Twitter.
The migrants were part of a group of 1,500 people who had been waiting for hours at a refugee collection point near the Roszke crossing.

Tianjin Explosion: Blast In Warehouse Illegally Storing Chemicals, 2 Months After Deadly Disaster

Oct. 13, 2015

Tianjin was hit by a warehouse blast Monday night, just two months after explosions rocked the port city in northern China leaving over 160 people dead.
The incident took place at a warehouse storing "alcohol materials" in Beichen district's Xiditou Township, China’s official Xinhua News Agency reported, adding that there were no casualties. Nearly 6,600 pounds of alcohol were being stored in the 7,500 square-foot warehouse, the Associated Press reported, citing Tianjin government's news office.
Two people have been detained for illegally using the warehouse to store chemicals, China’s local network CCTV News reported, adding that an investigation is underway.

The Tianjin government also reportedly said the incident posed no hazardous risks to people or the environment.

In August, a warehouse complex storing large amounts of hazardous chemicals caught fire and exploded in Tianjin, 90 miles southeast of Beijing, killing 165 people and leaving eight missing. Last month, authorities announced they were ending search for the missing people and a court will issue death certificates for those unaccounted for.
Several arrests have been made in connection with the deadly Aug. 12 explosions at the Ruihai International Logistics warehouse. Investigations showed the warehouse stored at least 700 tons of sodium cyanide, which can form a toxic vapor when combined with water.
According to Chinese safety regulations, large warehouses of hazardous chemicals cannot be located within a kilometer, or 0.6 miles, of residential sites, public buildings or transportation lines. But the warehouse in Tianjin did not adhere to these standards, with at least three residential complexes built within a kilometer of the site.

Yangtze ship disaster: Chinese salvagers right Eastern Star

5 June, 2005
BBC

The Eastern Star overturned late on Monday after being caught in a storm.
Just 14 of the 456 passengers and crew are known to have survived what looks set to be China's worst shipping disaster in more than 60 years of Communist rule.
Authorities say the chances of finding anyone still alive were "slim".
"In a situation in which the overall judgment is that there is no chance of people being alive, we could start the work of righting the boat," Transport Ministry Spokesperson Xu Chengguang had told reporters at a news conference on Thursday.
Rescue workers on the upturned hull, which was just barely visible over the brown waters of the Yangtze, were towered over by two cranes.
Hooks were welded onto the ship and a net stretched around the entire structure in preparation for lifting it.
By first light on Friday, the ship could be seen lying on its side with its name visible just above the water. Xinhua state news agency later tweeted a picture of the righted vessel, its roof apparently crushed.
As the ship is righted, the focus of emergency workers at the site in Jianli, Hubei province will switch from attempting to find survivors to searching the ship's 150 cabins for bodies.
Mr Xu said on Friday that the next step was to raise the ship entirely above the water to conduct the search.
So far 97 bodies have been recovered, some after three holes were cut into the vessel's upturned hull. The holes were later welded closed in order to preserve the ship's buoyancy.
Mr Xu said there had been no further signs of life inside the ship, Xinhua news agency reports.
He said officials would "absolutely not cover up anything" in the investigation, state media reports.
Chinese President Xi Jinping promised a thorough investigation into the cause of the disaster, after angry relatives protested at the scene.
Authorities tightly controlled access to the site, leading family members and journalists to complain about a lack of information.

Most of the 14 people known to have survived jumped from the ship as it began to sink. Three were rescued by divers from air pockets in the upturned hull.
The cause of the sinking is not yet known, but survivors have spoken of an intense storm which flipped the boat over in minutes.
The captain and chief engineer, who were among those who escaped, have since been detained.
Maritime agency records showed the ship was investigated for safety violations two years ago. It was held alongside five other vessels in 2013 over safety concerns.
China's deadliest maritime disaster in recent decades was in November 1999, when the Dashun ferry caught fire and capsized in the sea off Shandong province, killing about 280.
The Eastern Star could become China's deadliest boat accident since the SS Kiangya sank off Shanghai in 1948, killing somewhere between 2,750 and 4,000 people.
